As most people know, ITN built a “bubble” for additional indoor sports. I saw pictures of some of our 12U girls playing at ITN a few weeks ago and I was surprised they were in the new bubble since the bubble existed last winter too, but we were in the main building. So I’m not sure which location we’ll be in. We have the batting cages rented before each game which are in the main building, so go there first when you arrive!

WHAT KIND OF SHOES CAN I WEAR?
NO METAL CLEATS! You can wear plastic cleats, sneakers or turf shoes. You may want to bring both your cleats and a pair of athletic sneakers to see which you think gives you the best traction on this turf surface.

If you were with us when we played outdoors at ITN last fall and then it rained unexpectedly Sunday so they had us finish the tournament inside, they let us use your metal cleats then because they couldn’t tell anyone not wear them if they didn’t bring other cleats. That was an exception to the rule. For this tournament you can NOT wear metal cleats.

In the batting cages you can only wear sneakers!!!

WHEN SHOULD I GET THERE?
8:00am

WHERE DO WE WARM UP?
I have rented TWO batting cages before each game. We have both cages for ONE full hour from 8:00 to 9:00am. So when you arrive please find the batting cages in “the academy” area (if you find the concession stand, turn around 180 degrees and go through the door.)

Pitchers and catchers will hit first. If that area next to the cages is not being used, you can use that to warm up.

Cage rental times:
8:00-9:00am – 2 cages (Cage 3 and 4)
1:00-2:00pm – 1 cage (Cage 5) (Only 1 cage was available)
5:15-5:45pm – 2 cages (Cage 2 and 3)

HOW WARM IS IT IN THERE?
It’s sort of heated, but there’s no insulation on the dome itself, so it doesn’t ever get to room temperature. Generally it’s about 20 degrees warmer in the dome than outside. It’s supposed to be a high of 36 tomorrow, so you can expect it to be about 55-60 degrees inside, at best. Plenty comfortable for the girls running around playing, but spectators will definitely want to dress warm, wear a hat and have a blanket.

Fortunately it’s supposed to be a sunny day, so that helps a little.

ARE THERE PLACES TO SIT?
No, but there is open space behind the outfield fences, so bring a chair to sit in.

WHAT TEAMS ARE IN THIS TOURNAMENT?
There are (5) teams at 18U. (There is also a 16U tournament going on at the same time.)

6:00pm vs. NY Heat

That’s it. 4 games, all in one day. Best record wins the tournament. Tie breaker is head-to-head, then runs against, then run differential.

WHAT FORMAT ARE THE GAMES?
Every batter will start with a 1-1 count to speed up the games!

All games are only ONE hour, finish the inning, so it’s important to score early!

Any ball hit off the ceiling is a foul ball.

WHAT ARE THE MERCY RULES?
15, 12 and 8 runs after 3, 4 and 5 innings.

ARE THERE CONCESSIONS?
Yes, there is a concession stand in the building attached to the “dome”. That area is fully heated, by the way.
