WHY IS THIS CALLED THE “4TH OF JULY” TOURNAMENT?
I don’t know. I would’ve called it the “24th and 25th of June” tournament.

WHAT TEAMS ARE IN THIS TOURNAMENT?
There are (10) total teams. Only (2) returning from the last tournament – us and Spirit. The other (8) are all different from last time.

WHEN DO WE PLAY SATURDAY?
8:00am vs. Phantoms 18U-Gold (Lyons field 1)
9:45am vs. Stars 23U (Lyons field 1)
1:15pm vs. Strikers 23U (Fleetwood high school)

So that’s play, play, sit, play, sit, sit.

WHAT TIME SHOULD WE ARRIVE?
As you know, I give everyone an extra 15 minutes for 8am start times, so please arrive by 7:15am, but please don’t be late. 45 minutes to get ready is the bare minimum.

WHAT DOES THE SUNDAY BRACKET LOOK LIKE?
Lyons tournaments always break the teams into a Gold bracket and a Silver bracket. Gold will be top 6 teams (All at Lyons on field 1 and 2). The Silver will be the bottom 4 teams (All at the Fleetwood HS field). (Not sure why he does it 6 and 4, and not 5 and 5.)

If you want to sleep in Sunday, we need to be the 1, 2, 7 or 10 seed. All other seeds will start at 8am.

HOW LONG ARE THE GAMES?
Pool play games are 1 hour and 30 minutes on Saturday, finish the inning and can end in a tie.

Bracket games are all also 1 hour and 30 minutes, finish the inning, EXCEPT for the Championship games which will be played in their entirety.

International tie breaker rules for any games that go extra innings.

*WHAT ARE THE MERCY RULES? *
Run rules are 15 after 3, 12 after 4, and 8 after 5.

CAN I BRING MY OWN FOOD?
At Fleetwood high school, yes. There is no concession stand there. At Lyons, no. No outside food is allowed inside the fence at Lyons. There IS a concession stand there. Note that is CASH only.

HOW DOES THE WEATHER LOOK?
Despite what the Saturday and Sunday overview forecasts say, I think this is actually going to happen. It’s odd for sure. If you just look at the forecasts for the day, it sounds highly doubtful, but if you look at the radar and the hourly forecasts it doesn’t look bad. My guess is that it’s almost certain to have a thunderstorm at some point, but not all day. So it’s just a matter of exactly when that rain occurs and hopefully it doesn’t rain so much that it destroys the fields for the rest of day.

Saturday = Mostly cloudy, 50% chance of rain, no wind at all. Comfortable all day, even first thing in the morning. 68 degrees at 7am, going up to 79 degrees by 3pm.

Sunday = Mix of sun and clouds, leaning towards cloudy. 20% chance of rain, no wind at all. Again comfortable all day, even first thing in the morning. 67 degrees at 7am, going up to 82 degrees by mid-afternoon.

WHAT UNIFORMS ARE WE WEARING?
Saturdays are always the white/red/black jerseys with black pants and cherry red socks. (Black or red belt if you wear a belt.)

Sundays are always the gold/black jerseys with black pants and black socks. (Black or gold belt if you wear a belt.)
